HARTFORD, CT – September 6th, 2023 –
The Hartford Gay and Lesbian Health Collective (HGLHC) will host Congressman John Larson, and Lt. Gov. Susan Bysiewicz on Thursday, September 7th at 2:00pm. The meeting comes amid rising concerns about increasing threats and acts of violence against the LGBTQ+ community both nationally and within Connecticut.
The event is an integral part of the #ProtectSafeSpaces campaign, a collaborative initiative in partnership with the New York City Anti-Violence Project (AVP) and CenterLink: The Community of LGBTQ Centers. Through these collaborative efforts, the campaign aims to shed light on the critical importance of safe spaces for the LGBTQ+ community and the urgent need to fund and protect them. Additional information about this initiative can be found here.
“The HGLHC believes that this visit will serve as a potent reminder of their enduring commitment to champion the rights of the LGBTQ+ community”, said Executive Director David Grant. “By joining hands with local and national organizations, HGLHC aims to reinforce our elected leader’s dedication to advocating for and safeguarding LGBTQ+ safe spaces in Connecticut and across the country.”
Members of the media and the public are invited to attend the event.
